Ben Affleck has certainly turned into quite the movie star and film maker. His latest film is already getting Oscar Buzz! Titled "ARGO" for the fake Sci-Fi movie at the heart of the story, it was easy for me to see where the Oscar talk is coming from.

Based on the true story of the 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis in which 50 American's were held hostage at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran for 444 days. What the news media didn't share, as it wasn't de-classified until years later, was the fact that 6 embassy workers escaped prior to the embassy being taken and hid out at the Canadian Ambassador's home.

"Argo" is the story of CIA agent Tony Menedez (Affleck) who under the guise of making an imaginary Sci-Fi movie, gets permission to travel to Iran to scout locations. Once inside the country, the scheme is to claim that the 6 are part of a Canadian film crew helping with the scouting and have them all leave together.

Even though we know how the story ends, it's an edge of your seat historical thriller. As the period goes, I felt like I was back in 1979 as I watched the movie, from all the random smoking, to the lack of cell phones, big old clunky TV's and the cars....very accurate.

Scene Stealers: Alan Arkin and John Goodman play the real movie makers who helped sell the scam and the recurring line of the movie "ARGO ______ _______"! Will crack you up and offer the movie's only real levity. Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) plays Affleck's boss at the agency and gets a thumbs up for another great supporting performance. Although this film was #2 at the box office on it's opening weekend (Beaten by Taken 2), I do expect it to continue to do well and it will win at Oscar time. Trailer below! Large Combo with a diet Coke please and some Goobers! I'll see you at the movies!
