A couple of celebs started the New Year off on the wrong foot.  Josh Brolin was arrested for public intoxication on New Year's night. Not many details.  A source says Josh was hanging out with his guy friends and, quote, "had too much fun."  It may have been a little more serious than that, though.  The police report says Brolin was, quote, "intoxicated and unable to care for himself."  He was released, cited and the case is over.

Thomas Gibson, who you’ll know from Criminal Minds and Dharma & Greg was arrested early yesterday morning in LA on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.  What got him in big trouble is he attempted to drive thru a half marathon.  He drove his SUV right on onto the course interrupting several runners.  He was even stopped by police and told to go a different way, but he proceeded anyway.   He was arrested for suspicion of DUI after cops caught a whiff of alcohol on his breath.  He refused to take a breathalyzer.  His bail was set at $15,000.

This morning, Lindsay Lohan is due to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court. She faces misdemeanor charges for assaulting a "psychic" at a nightclub in late November. The district attorney could dismiss the case entirely, or seek to throw Lohan in jail for a year.   Even if Lohan escapes punishment in New York City, that's just the tip of the legal iceberg she faces. The IRS is coming after what little money she has in savings. Then there are the criminal cases in California, where she's accused of lying to police following a car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway. That would be a clear violation of her probation from a jewelry heist case. It's possible we could see her an orange jumpsuit by summer.

Beginning tomorrow night, Jimmy Kimmel’s show will move up to 11:35 P.M., in direct competition with "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Late Show with David Letterman".   Jimmy considers Letterman one of his idols, but he has little respect for Leno.  He recently said that his "proudest moment" came when he humiliated Leno by ambushing him on his own show.   Jimmy also tears into Leno in a new interview with "Rolling Stone".   He says, quote, "Leno hasn't been a good stand-up in 20 years…as a comedian, you can't NOT have disdain for what he's done:  He totally sold out.  He was a master chef who opened a Burger King."

After three weekends at #1, "The Hobbit" has been dethroned at the box office.  "Texas Chainsaw 3D" made $23 million to take the top spot for the first weekend of 2013.  "Django Unchained" took the runner-up slot with $20.1 million...while "The Hobbit" was knocked down to 3rd place with $17.5 million.

In other movie news, Tom Selleck wants to do another "Three Men and a Baby" movie…and he's actually talked to Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg about it.   He says, quote, "We'd love to get back together if they've got a good idea.

More proof that Taylor Swift has difficulty with relationships, there’s new word that she and Harry Styles are talking about getting married. They’ve been dating just 3 months. Though in that time, they have taken 3 exotic vacations together. Here’s what her dad told Harry when they met (quote) “Don’t break my daughter’s heart.” Dad has seen that happen too many times already.
A source close to Swift's family says that her father would prefer that the singers slow down and take the relationship at a normal pace. Her dad is afraid she could become devastated if Harry suddenly splits on her. That won’t happen overnight. They were last seen taking a romantic vacation on the white sandy beaches in the Caribbean.

Kim Kardashian has taken some heat for monetizing her pregnancy.  One tabloid offered Kim and Kanye $3 million for the first baby photos. They turned down that offer.  To put that into perspective, Matthew McConaughey was paid $3 million for photos of his newborn son. Angelina Jolie got $14 million for pictures of the twins and $4 million for photos of her first child, Shiloh, in 2006. Jennifer Lopez earned $6 million for photos of her twins.   At the moment, it appears Kim and Kanye are taking the high road with their rejection. More likely, they're holding out for even more money. They could whip up demand and interest with the right marketing via the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" reality show. As the negotiations continue, the asking price for first-look photos of Kim's baby could double.

The family that stars in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo gets paid $25,000 per episode. Ponder that for a moment.  But Mama June is trying to be smart about it.  She has reportedly established a trust fund for each of her daughters. TLC doesn't pay the family all of its money directly, but instead deposits the girls' shares into those accounts. They can't get at the money until they're 21, which gives them a while to wise up before throwing it all away on tattoos and junk food.    Mama June says (quote) "I want my kids to look back and say, 'Mama played it smart. Not like those other reality TV people.' You're never gonna see me drive a Range Rover or a Mercedes." The biggest purchase the family has made since hitting it big on TV? A 2005 Ford Explorer.

The Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo and...Vice President Joe Biden?
Hundreds of Americans have started an online petition for a reality show starring the vice president. Suggested names for the show have included “Biden Time,” “Ridin’ with Biden” and “Literally Joe."

A while back, we heard that Michael J. Fox was returning to TV on a sitcom inspired by his life.  Well, now there are a few more details.  First off, NBC has picked it up…and it's in the running to be on their schedule beginning next fall.  But there's no title yet.   On the show, Michael plays a newscaster who had to quit his job due to Parkinson's Disease...but is now returning to work because a new medical regimen has helped him control many of the symptoms.
