Michael Buble has surprised New York commuters with an a capella performance on the subway. The singer sang a rendition of the Jackson 5 classic Who's Lovin' You on the platform at the 66th Street Lincoln Centre stop.
Nobody went home last night on "American Idol". Every season has an extra week built in because of the judges' save, but since the save wasn't used this season, they didn't have to eliminate anyone this week The bottom two was a bit of a surprise tho… Amber Holcomb and Candice Glover…who some say is going to win it all. They’ve got another chance next week to redeem themselves.
If American Idol wants to kickstart its ratings-- like they tried by firing Mariah Carey mid-season-- they’d be smart to hire the Duck Dynasty family to replace Mariah. Duck Dynasty is beating Idol in the all-important ratings game. On Wednesday, more people under the age of 50 watched the season finale of Duck Dynasty than Idol’s “one hit wonder” night.
Completely out of left field, the latest X-Factor rumor is that Simon Cowell wants Jennifer Love Hewitt next to him on the judging panel. Kind of weird because although Jennifer has put out cds… it’s not like she has a string of hits or has a long history inside the music industry. But she would come cheap. Simon wouldn’t have to write a huge paycheck, like he did last year for Britney Spears, to get J-Love on the panel.
This is the final weekend of freedom for rehab-bound Lindsay Lohan. There’s no telling which neighborhood she'll be terrorizing, plus it’s a full moon.
She certainly won’t be spending the weekend selecting which rehab to enter. Lindsay is a grade-A procrastinator. A source says (quote) “Lohan is a drama queen. She feeds off this last-minute frenzy. She likes to wait until the 11th hour, or even the 12th.” A handful of rehabs have been placed on alert that sometime Wednesday night, May 1st, they ought to be prepared to process admission papers for Lindsay’s 90-day stay. Batten down the valuables.
If there's anyone who wouldn't mind posing nude and pregnant, you'd think it would be Kim Kardashian. And you would be wrong. According to "In Touch" magazine, she considered it, but ultimately decided against it. A source says, quote, "It opens her up to too much scrutiny. She's been freaking out about her body. During a recent fashion shoot she burst into tears, saying she looked gross."
A new trailer for "Monsters University" has hit the web. (You can check it out here.) "Monsters University" is the prequel to "Monsters Inc.", which tells the story of how Mike and Sully first met. It hits theaters on June 21st.
"Iron Man 3" hits theaters next week, and you'll probably want to savor the moment . . . because it might be the last "Iron Man" movie. The Most Beautiful Woman in the World Gwenyth Paltrow says, quote, "I don't think there's going to be an 'Iron Man 4'. I think we're done with 'Iron Man'."
This week is "Big Money Week" on "The Price Is Right", and yesterday, someone had a chance to win a 2013 Ferrari 458 Spyder. That's a $285,716 car! It's the most expensive prize in the history of the show…although it won't be for long. The show is finishing up the week today with a Plinko game worth $500,000.Yesterday's contestant, Therese, had to win "Three Strikes" to take home the Ferrari. That's the game where you draw numbered chips from a baseball-shaped bag, and have to match the digits in the price BEFORE you draw three strikes. Therese didn't get ANY of the digits matched before striking out ….not even the FIRST digit, despite three tries. Apparently, she thought it was a $100,000 car…then an $800,000 car…and then a $600,000 car.Maybe she was trying NOT to win it. With the taxes and insurance costs, she might not have been able to AFFORD winning the car.
Joe and Tina Simpson's 34-year marriage is officially over. A source confirms to PEOPLE that Jessica Simpson’s parents divorce has been finalized. Tina filed for divorce in October and cited "discord or conflict of personalities" in court papers. "It's an amicable split and there is no third party involved. Any other related allegations are completely false," a family rep told PEOPLE last fall amid rumors that Joe, 55, had come out to his family.
Gaga's a godmother -- again! Sir Elton John and husband David Furnish were so impressed with Lady Gaga's guidance as a godmother to their son Zachary, that they asked for an encore performance when they welcomed son Elijah, in January. In an interview Elton gushed that Gaga is the perfect choice to help their kids navigate life, love, and showbiz. He said "She's a great role model, she's young, [and] she's been a great godmother to Zachary," "We're all bonkers in this business, but we're human beings at the same time." "There's a real simple person under there who loves her parents,"
Prince Harry is about to become an uncle, but he still needs practice on changing dirty diapers. Yesterday, Harry visited a hospital and his daddy skills were put to the test. Could he change a baby’s diaper with one hand while the other was lifting a 10-pound weight? The exercise simulates the effort required of brain injury patients when doing every-day tasks. The head nurse joked that Harry never woke the baby. (quote) “She stayed asleep all the time -- she didn’t cry once.” That’s because he changed the diaper on a doll.
Fox has denied the report that "American Idol" wanted to bring Jennifer Lopez back to replace Mariah Carey in the middle of this season. A Fox spokesperson says, quote, "This is just another ridiculous "Idol" judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale." TMZ claims J-Lo IS coming back to perform a new single on "Idol" on May 16th…but so-called "sources" tell them that "Idol" DID consider bringing J-Lo back to take over for Mariah for the rest of the season. Apparently, this was part of a plan to stop the show's ratings slide. The "Hollywood Reporter" was the first to report on the possible J-Lo-for-Mariah swap. They say the plan was shut down after Mariah threatened legal action.
The "Star" recently named Gwyneth Paltrow the Most Hated Celebrity in Hollywood. Well, "People" magazine obviously has a different take, because they just crowned her the Most Beautiful Woman in the World. Gwyneth says, quote, "When I first heard that I was gonna be on the cover…I honestly thought someone was playing a joke on me. "And I had to reread the email three times. I was like, 'This can't be true. I've developed dyslexia. I'm not reading right.'" Gwyneth is 40 years old.

The captioning company that identified Zooey Deschanel as a suspect in the Boston bombing has apologized. Last Friday, the Fox affiliate KDFW was running a report on the bombing, and the closed captioning identified the suspect as, quote, "19-year-old Zooey Deschanel". Well, the company that made the error was Caption Solutions out of Lawrence, Kansas. And the company's president has issued a statement saying they, quote, "sincerely apologize for this error."Zooey took the screw up in stride, though. Over the weekend she Tweeted, quote, "Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL!"
Ever since the Boston Red Sox started playing Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline" at all their games, the song has been linked to Boston. And last week, it became a source of comfort for the city after the Boston Marathon Bombing. So perhaps it's not surprising that the song's sales are up 597%. It sold 19,000 copies last week, which was up from 2,800 copies the week before. And Neil says he's donating the proceeds from the recent sales to the bombing victims.

"The Million Second Quiz" will air live in primetime, which insinuates that the show will air nightly for two weeks. It'll premiere this fall, and the winner will receive a HUGE payout of $10 Million.

Dancing with the Stars last night….the bottom two… a little bit of a surprise. Victor Ortiz and Sean Lowe. That was the first time this season that he was in jeopardy. Most people think Andy Dick deserved to be in the bottom two. In the end, it was Victor Ortiz that was bounced from the ballroom. In leaving, the boxer said, “It was a heck of an experience and hopefully these beautiful people will follow me to my next championship bout. I'm happy to get this far. I definitely need some dance moves.”
Behind the scenes on American Idol, a “secret plot” was hatched to dismiss judge Mariah Carey and bring back fan favorite Jennifer Lopez. The Hollywood Reporter has the juicy details of what could have been a mid-season mutiny that failed just as soon as Mariah’s team threatened to take the show to court. Sources say there’s “panic” inside the Idol offices and though it’s obvious that Mariah won’t be returning next season, Nicki Minaj is also on the chopping block, and perhaps the entire panel of judges will exit at the end of this season. Idol’s ratings have fallen to frightening levels and there’s clearly got to be a shake-up. The voice took the two top spots in the ratings followed by the two nights of Dancing with the Stars, and then Idol.
While reports claimed that Khloe Kardashian wasn’t asked back to X Factor because she didn’t get along with Mario Lopez, Radaronline reports it was actually Khloe’s mother Kris Jenner who had issues with Mario. “Everyone thinks that Mario hated working with Khloe,” a source told Radar. “But he was nothing but encouraging and supportive (to Khloe). It was her mother Kris who was the problem.” The source claims Kris would complain to producers that Mario was “pushy and insensitive” and that he and Khloe didn’t have any chemistry. She even had the nerve to suggest Mario be replaced by one of the other Kardashian sisters. Unfortunately her complaints seem to backfire on Kris. Said the insider, “Well, the producers agreed with the no chemistry argument, but also that Khloe was in over her head – and that’s why she’s gone.”
Video of Reese Witherspoon in handcuffs hit the World Wide Web of Celebrity Embarrassment yesterday. The clip shows Reese arriving at the Atlanta police station after her arrest. The cop takes her out of his car and uncuffs her, then leads her into the station. Click here to check it out.
Meanwhile, the paparazzi caught up with David Spade the other night, and asked him about Reese. Specifically, they asked him about her playing the "Do you know who I am?" card. And he said, quote, "The general rule is…If you have to explain to someone you're famous, then you're technically not that famous." He added, quote, "[When people] won't let me in somewhere I go, 'Great, thanks.' I don't try to explain to them I'm a big deal, because clearly I'm not big enough of a deal."
Sharon Osbourne discussed Ozzy’s relapse on "The Talk" yesterday. She said that pretty much everything has been "distorted" by the media, although there is, quote, "a little seed of truth" to it. She says, quote, "The only thing that's true was the Facebook posting that my husband did where he said he's been using alcohol and prescription drugs for the last year and a half…and that he has been in a very dark place. That's true. It's very true." Sharon said she did NOT know Ozzy was using drugs, and was only aware that he was, quote, "drinking occasionally." She added, quote, "It's our business, we're dealing with it. We're not getting divorced. However, am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes, I am. I'm devastated right now. "We've dealt with worse and we will deal with it and this too shall pass. Otherwise my husband will be taken to the hospital to get my foot removed from his ass." (Here's video.)

The rumors were TRUE: Khloe Kardashian is not returning to "X Factor" next season. Mario Lopez will be back…but it's unclear if he's hosting alone, or if he's getting a new co-host. Some reports say Khloe was fired…but others say it was a mutual decision, because it was becoming too difficult to work around her schedule, with all the other stuff she's doing. There's no official word, though. Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato are returning as judges. Fox still hasn't announced replacements for departing judges Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries settled their divorce case on Friday, and it sounds like it went pretty much the way we heard it would. Kris basically dropped his attempt to get the marriage annulled on the basis of fraud. He also gets nothing out of Kim. Not even legal fees. They both walk away clean. Kris had been demanding $7 million…but much like the annulment, this was something else he never really had a shot at getting, thanks to an iron-clad prenup. They're not 100% divorced yet…the court still has to sign off on it. That will reportedly happen sometime before June 19th. Everybody calls this a "72-day marriage", but technically that's not true. Kim and Kris separated after 72 days, but technically, they're still married. Even if you count Friday as the day the marriage ended, that's still 536 days.
Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth were arrested early Friday morning in Atlanta. He was popped for DUI, and they took Reese in for disorderly conduct. Here's what happened…Police saw a car weaving so they pulled it over. Jim was driving, and Reese was riding shotgun. As the cops were dealing with Jim, Reese started getting impatient and agitated. One of the officers said that she began to hang out the window and said that she did not believe that he was a real police officer. He says he told Reese to sit down and be quiet. She got out of the car…the cop told her to get back in, but she said she was a U.S. citizen, and was allowed to, quote, "stand on American ground." So he tried to take her by the arms, but she resisted, and said, quote, "Do you know my name?" When the cop said no, she replied, quote, "You're about to find out who I am…You are going to be on national news." At that point, she was cuffed and arrested. Reese was booked under her given name, Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon. (Check out their mugshots here.) Reese released a statement last night that said, quote, "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said."

At the GLAAD Media Awards over the weekend, Jennifer Lawrence and movie executive Harvey Weinstein presented an award to Bill Clinton. But Jennifer messed up his NAME. (Check out the video here. Skip ahead to the 3:52 mark. After she blows it, Jennifer says, quote, "Of all the things to mess up...his name!") Betty White was a popular girl at the awards. She got kissed by both Bill Clinton and "Magic Mike" star Alex Pettyfer. Speaking of kisses, Betty's old friend Cloris Leachman bid $8,000 for a kiss from Betty. But during the discussion about what kind of kiss it was going to be, Betty said, quote, "I may be open-minded, but I'm not ridiculous."
There's been yet another celebrity injury on the set of ABC's "Splash". This time Nicole Eggert botched a dive, and slammed into the water, back first. Nicole says she has a bruised back and kidneys, but she's fine. She's also denying reports that she was hospitalized. Last month, Chelsea Handler's assistant Chuy left the show with an injured heel…and last week, Katherine Webb dropped out with a back injury. Skier Rory Bushfield suffered a ruptured eardrum, but he stayed on the show. Louie Anderson has also dealt with bruised ribs.
The new Tom Cruise movie "Oblivion" topped the box office this weekend, after earning $38.2 million in its first three days of release. One of the downsides of being Taylor Swift is that you can't do anything on the sly. And that includes mundane stuff like checking out a $24 million mansion that you're thinking about buying. It's called the Harkness House…and it's in Rhode Island. The mansion is a historical landmark that's known by a few other names. It's also called High House and Holiday House. And as I'm sure you've guessed from that price tag, it's a monster. It has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, eight fireplaces, a five car heated garage and over 700 feet of shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean. I could go on. Click here to see pictures.
Elimination night on American Idol. Candice Glover was the first contestant to be voted safe. On Wednesday night she wowed the audience with her rendition of “Straight Up” by Paula Abdul. Paula loved the performance so much that she made a surprise appearance last night to congratulate Candice. She also told Candice she was her biggest fan ever. The singer with the least amount of votes and the contestant sent home was Janelle Arthur. In her final performance she sang The Supremes “You Keep Me Hanging On.”
Charlie Brown's heading to the big screen in 3D. The lovable blockhead and the rest of the Peanuts gang have been cast to star in their very own animated feature for 2015. Taking Charlie Brown and his Peanuts pals to the big screen is considered a major deal given how fiercely protective Charles Schulz's family has been of the comic's copyright. The Peanuts creator died in 2002 and had long been reluctant to grant movie rights to his characters.
Kris Humphries may be ready to settle his divorce case with Kim Kardashian as early as today. Sources say Kris is finally ready to accept that he doesn't have the evidence to prove their marriage was a fraud, and therefore he's not likely to get the annulment he's looking for. Another source claims he'll only settle if Kim APOLOGIZES to him…and issues a PUBLIC apology as well.
Meanwhile, Mama Kardashian…Kris Jenner has a new talk show called “Kris” and that is going to premiere on July 15th…but only in select markets. "Time" magazine has released its annual list of the 100 Most Influential People. The celebrities who made the cut this year include Jennifer Lawrence, Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon. Jay-Z and Beyoncé are on it, too, of course…since the media recently decided that they're, like, the most important people on Earth. I think we can safely say this is NOT Justin Bieber's year. In addition to his various personal controversies, he was snubbed by the Grammys, and now this: He didn't make the "Time" list, but his MANAGER Scooter Braun did. Here are the other names you'll recognize…Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Pope Francis, Christina Aguilera, Steven Spielberg, Lindsey Vonn, Gabrielle Giffords, and Kate Middleton. (Check out the complete list here.)
By now, everybody is getting the hint that Ryan Lochte isn't an intellectual heavyweight. And that became apparent to the anchors of the morning show "Good Day Philly", when they interviewed him about his upcoming reality show "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" They interviewed Ryan via satellite, and it was such a train wreck that as soon as it was over, they started CRACKING UP.
Another 80’s movie remake…this time it’s the teen comedy "Weird Science". It starred Anthony Michael Hall and Kelly Lebrock. Two science nerds created what they believe will be the perfect woman. It also starred Robert Downey Jr and Bill Paxton. The original came out in 1985, and it was rated PG-13. The remake will be a Rated-R comedy, along the lines of "The Hangover".
A new study has found that 86% of ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers use MUSIC to help students learn English. And 40% of them say their go-to act is: The Beatles. No other artist was near that popular. 6% of ESL teachers say they use Michael Jackson songs…5% go with Bob Marley…4% play Elvis…and for some reason, 3% use One Direction.

In the book "Kardashian Konfidential", Kim Kardashian suggests that her fame can be traced back to a 2006 date she had with Nick Lachey…in which the paparazzi just happened to show up. Well, Nick doesn't think it was such a coincidence that they were found out. He thinks Kim tipped off the media. He says, quote, "Let's just say this: We went to a movie. No one followed us there. Somehow, mysteriously, when we left, there were 30 photographers waiting outside. "There are certain ways to play this game, and some people play it well."
Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges play undead cops in the upcoming comedy "R.I.P.D." The premise is pretty simple: They're both lawmen who've died, but have been sent back to Earth in order to round up dead people who've somehow escaped their fate and continue to exist among the living. The movie comes out in July…and the trailer hit the web yesterday. This movie definitely gives off a "Men In Black" vibe.
A 20-year-old Florida man flew to New Orleans over the weekend to audition for "X Factor". He didn't have any money…so he stole a car that someone left running and unattended at a gas station. He ended up in a high-speed chase with police…and rammed into a cop car…before he was eventually forced off the road.Orrion was arrested for aggravated assault on a police officer, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $500, criminal damage, resisting arrest, and aggravated flight from an officer. There's no comment from the show…but clearly, he won't be allowed to continue.
It's always amusing when young celebrities like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus put out "memoirs." Well, the British tabloids say that Adele actually passed on a "seven-figure" offer to write one, because she isn't old enough. Adele turns 25 next month. A "source" says, quote, "Even though she received a lucrative offer, her primary concern was that she doesn't want to write a book about just 24 years. She feels she'd rather wait until she has more life experience to write about. "She'd never say never, but she did say 'not now'."
Lady Gaga may have been sidelined by a hip injury, but she's still considered among the most powerful public figures out there. To mark the tenth anniversary of its popular list, "Time" started a March Madness-style bracket asking online readers to pick the "most influential" person of the decade. Gaga came in second place, just behind Burmese freedom fighter Aung San Suu Kyi. Some of the most popular "most influential" list makers were put into the categories of Entertainment, Politics, Technology and Icons. Gaga beat out George Clooney, Tina Fey, and J.K. Rowling to win the Entertainment bracket, and then earned more votes than President Barack Obama, making her the second-most influential person of the decade, according to "Time's" online readers' poll.
Apparently too much time has lapsed from when Stevie Nicks first floated the idea of Reese Witherspoon playing her in a movie about her life. The 64-year-old rocker now says the 37-year-old Oscar winner is "almost too old to play her" now. The Fleetwood Mac singer made the comment to "Entertainment Tonight Canada" at the premiere of her new documentary "In Your Dreams." Well past her lyrical "Edge of Seventeen," Nicks says while she loves the actress, Reese herself thinks she might be better suited to play Nicks' mother at this point.
There are many stories in the galaxy to be told and "Star Wars" fans will soon have their fill of them. Disney has announced plans to roll out a new "Star Wars" movie every year, starting in 2015. That's when J.J .Abrams' highly anticipated "Episode 7" is slated for release. In making the annoucement at CinemaCon in Las Vegas Wednesday, Disney said the follow up to Abrams' film would be released as a standalone spinoff. He also wants you to know that he'll win at least one Oscar, if not more. He says, quote, "It's going to happen. That's just a fact. Kristen Stewart will be back…and we assume Chris Hemsworth is on board, too. What's NOT likely is that Rupert Sanders will be back to direct. She played Snow's White's mom.
